How we verify prices
Last updated: 2026-09-16
A price comparison site is useful for one thing only: deciding. To be useful, you have to be able to understand where the numbers come from. This page explains it plainly.
Where the prices come from
For online printing the prices are read from the printers' own public configurators: we go into the same page you would use, pick product, format, quantity and options, and record the price the configurator returns. So the comparison is not between headline rates but between what you would actually pay for that combination.
For the other comparisons (hosting, domains, VoIP, payments, accounting, courses, software) the source is the provider's public pricing page. Where an official document exists, we use that: for business loans the figures come from the required disclosure sheets, the documents lenders must publish, including the worked example and the APR.
What the price includes (and what it does not)
An honest comparison also states what the price leaves out. Wherever possible we show separately: VAT, shipping, activation fees and above all the renewal price — which in software and hosting is the real cost, while the introductory price is a promotion. In factoring and loans the cost is not a single figure but a rate plus fees: we say so, instead of making a service look free when it is not.
When the data was last checked
Every comparison page shows, next to the heading, the month when prices were last checked. If that date is old, the data may be old too: that is information you need, not a technical detail.
If a price is wrong
Prices change, and promotions last about a week. If you find a price different from the one on the provider's own site, tell us: there is a report button at the bottom of every page, it needs no registration and the email is optional. Reports reach a person, with a weekly summary, and when a price is corrected we update the date as well. Price corrections are the most useful report we can receive.
What we do not do
We do not sell ranking positions. The order is by price, or by rate where the cost is a rate: paying us a higher commission does not move a provider up. When sorting, missing values go to the bottom, not the top: a provider that does not publish its renewal price must not look like the cheapest.
Some provider links are affiliate links: if you subscribe through them we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. How we are funded is explained in full on the How we get paid page.
The limit of any comparison
No price published by a comparison site is worth as much as the quote you receive yourself: the provider may apply conditions tied to your profile, country, availability or the moment of purchase. Treat our figures as an informed starting point, and always check the final price in the provider's checkout before confirming.
